C. Mestre: Israel

Israel started his Martial Arts carrier in Hapkido with Prof: Aroudo before he turned to Capoeira with Mestre Nál and Prof: Elías of  Grupo Topázio, now Grupo Gangara. It was after his time with Topazio that Israel realised the importance of submission fight in the life of the Martial Artist, and so he started to train BJJ under Edson Carvalho (a 5th degree black belt under Mestre Carlson Gracie). Israel was with Topazio for about 6 years and after that he started playing Capoeira in the streets of Salvador, especially in towns like S. Caetano, Fazenda Grande, Liberdade, São Martin, Baixa  Fria, Praia do Canta Galo and many more places, with great Mestres such as Mestre Lazinho, Virgílho, Branca de Neve, Fernando, Decival ....   The Rodas used to be very violent but everyone was there every day! Israel also did a lot of shows in Salvador with the Folkloric Company of Joao de Barro. He then went to Grupo Anjos de Angola and started teaching Capoeira. After 3 or 4 years he created Grupo Renascer and in 2002 he came to England. Israel has always been a fighter, he won his first title in 1996, and now not only trains but also teaches Capoeira and BJJ (purple belt (1 stripe) under The Black Belt Lagartixa).

Israel most important titles are:  

Free Style Serpent 1996 - 1st place ( 3 fights in the same night ) BR  

Copa Transamerica of Jiu-jitsu 2001 - 3rd place BR  

UK Storm - MMA tournament 2005 - 1st place ( 2 Fights in one night )

UK  Cage Warriors Quest 5, 2006 - Winner by choke.
